We had a great Session for City Staff learning about AARP Age Friendly and Dementia Friendly Fort Worth. Great leaders taught how it feels to have dementia and the need for the 8 Domains of Livability. This exercise definitely made us realize how we should interact with Dementia patients. The Age-Friendly work continues strong in Fort Worth, Texas! The Neighborhood Services, AARP Texas, and Dementia Friendly Fort Worth hosted the first Dementia Live Training for city employees! Also, it was announced the upcoming , which is part of the Outdoor Spaces & Buildings Domain!

The Age-Friendly Movement
Unlike other major cities, Fort Worth is more like one, big neighborhood rather than the thriving metropolis it has become. This blending of big-city living with a hometown feel has made Fort Worth a unique destination for families and businesses and this has led to record-breaking growth rates.
Despite the massive influx of new residents, the traditions, values and character of Fort Worth have largely remained unchanged. These traits ahve made Fort Worth a prosperous, robust and welcoming city that continuously seeks to improve the lives of its residents.
The City of Fort Worth is a leader in planning for its future residents and the orderly growth and development of the city. On December 6, 2016, the Fort Worth City Council passed Resolution No. 4704-12-2016, adopting the Age-Friendly Fort Worth Action Plan.
The Age-Friendly Fort Worth Action Plan promises to make Fort Worth a truly Age-Friendly City as we know what is good for the 8 year old is also good for the 80 year old.
