City of Fort Worth Pension Plan, Public Pension Plan, Retirement Fund, Defined Benefit Plan Original membership of the fund was 1,209.

The Fort Worth Employees' Retirement Fund was created by an ordinance approved and adopted by City Council September 12, 1945. Today, membership has grown to more than 9,000. Today, 13 members make up the Retirement Fund Board and a 19- member staff manages the daily operations and administration of the fund. Regular board meetings are held every fourth Wednesday of the month in the Retirement Off

On the afternoon and into the evening of May 16, 1949, heavy storms drenched Fort Worth. Over just two days, rain amounts exceeded 10 inches in parts of Fort Worth and other parts of the city saw several inches per hour. Once the rain stopped, the historic damage revealed the limitations in the city's levee and drainage systems. The flood spurred a new focus on flood control.
