School bus safety is everyone’s responsibility! As we recognize National School Bus Safety Week, the Texas Department of Public Safety reminds drivers to stay alert and use extra caution whenever they encounter a school bus—not just this week, but every day.
🚸 Remember these important safety tips:
🛑 Stop for a school bus with its red lights flashing and stop arm extended, as required by Texas law.
🔴 Never pass a stopped school bus when its red lights are flashing.
👀 Watch for children near bus stops, along roadways, and crossing the street.
📵 Stay focused and avoid distractions while driving.
🐢 Slow down in school zones and residential areas where children may be present.
