A young Bill Paxton wanted to see the president. He did — hours before John F. Kennedy was shot. Paxton, 61, died of complications from surgery, a family representative said in a statement issued Sunday.

Bill Paxton is in Sundance Square for the Lone Star Film Festival through the weekend! Bill discussed seeing President John F. Kennedy speak outside the Hotel Texas in with Good Morning Texas saying, "...we entered the crowd of 4,500 people. I was very close, about 40 feet away from the President. My dad took turns putting my brother and me on his shoulders. There was electricity in the air..."
