Here's something wholesome for your day. Ms. Leslie is one of our rockstar volunteers at The Welman Project AND one of our staff moms! When we started hosting storytime in Pages for the People (The Welman Project's FREE community bookshop), she stood out for bringing the book to life. As an educator, she knows the value of engaging kids at every level, and we love that she brings that everywhere she goes.

Storytime is now a part of Tinker Time November every third Saturday! Imaginari Tinker Time is designed especially for our youngest makers and their grown-up(s). Swing by for this monthly make-and-take where budding innovators and artists can enjoy open-ended maker time with unique reuse materials in a safe, encouraging environment. Free-range creativity meets age-appropriate introductions to maker tools and techniques.

Join us in The Welman Project's makerspace for the next session on November 21, 10 am to 12 pm. 🧡

There are 800+ artists for one huge day of art and music across 21 blocks of Magnolia Avenue in Fort Worth's Near Southside, Inc.. ArtsGoggle 2026 is presented by Frost® Smile Care for Kids and will also feature 65 free musical performances throughout the day at this FREE COMMUNITY EVENT. The Welman Project is making more confident sewists! In our last sewing class, Mending by Hand, students showed off their favorite mends on the final day. We had a parade of pillowcases, skirts, shirts, and more!

Don't miss our last adult class series this year - Denim Radically Refashioned: A Textile Revolution! This four-week journey will combine skills to upcycle your previously loved denim piece (jacket, jeans, or overalls) into a bespoke one-of-a-kind wearable artwork! Minimal machine sewing skills are required, but if you can sew a "mostly" straight stitch, this is the class for you!

The Ward family is on fall break this week and decided what better way to spend their afternoon than hanging out and volunteering together at The Welman Project? Together, they sorted donations in our incoming donation room, fondly known as the Batcave, so we can quickly stock our Educator Warehouse.

Did you know students as young as 10 can volunteer in this space alongside their adult? Check out all the opportunities to help at The Welman Project by visiting our Volunteer page and signing up for a shift! We have Batcave Assistant shifts every day we're open. When you sign up, you can choose from any available 2-hour block.

Attention class! Early Voting begins TODAY, October 19th, and runs through Friday, October 30th.

Educators, it’s time to use your TEACHER VOICE. Go VOTE. Public education is on the ballot!

Getting out to the polls can be a challenge when early voting and Election Day coincide with long school days. But don’t let that stop you!

Make a plan to vote early on Saturday, October 24th - Teacher Vote Day. Gather a group, go vote, then get out and play (you deserve it!).

Last month's scorecard was good. SCARY good. It's almost like having a big new building means we keep more out of the landfill. 😱 Shocking, we know.

👻 22 dumpsters of materials were rescued from landfill doom
👻 $277,808 worth of free supplies was distributed to schools
👻 896 educators felt supported by their community
👻 1,131 hours were given by volunteers
