The 2026 Rhode Island Primary is September 9 and the General Election is November 3
The deadline to apply for a mail ballot is Tuesday, August 18. Early voting and emergency mail voting takes place Wednesday, August 19 - Tuesday, September 8 (ending at 4 p.m.) You can vote early in person at your city or town hall or at a designated location during regular business hours. This is a great option if you are unable to vote at your usual polling place on Election Day, or if you have run out of time to request a mail ballot. All you need to know about early and mail voting in RI can be found here: https://vote.sos.ri.gov/Voter/PersonVotingPage
In Rhode Island, you must be registered to vote 30 days before an election to participate. So, if you are not currently registered, you cannot vote in the Rhode Island primary. But you can register to vote in the general election on November 3. The deadline to register to vote for the general election is Sunday, October 4. All you need to know about registering to vote can be found here: https://vote.sos.ri.gov/Voter/RegisterToVote
The Foster Democrats are grateful to the many candidates who came to speak to our group - directly during our monthly meetings; at the June 14th event hosted by Representatives Seth Magaziner and Megan Cotter at Little Rhody Vasa Park; or at the Meet the Candidates event hosted by the Northwest Alliance of Democratic Committees at the Pavilion in Burrillville. Thank you Kim Ahern, Keith Hoffmann, Jason Knight, Joseph Solomon Jr., Sabina Matos, Susan Anderbois, Cynthia Coyne, Xay Khamsyvoravong, Governor Dan McKee, Helena Foulkes, Representative Seth Magaziner, Connor Burbridge, Senator Jack Reed, Treasurer James Diossa, and Secretary of State Gregg Amore. We are grateful to have so many outstanding Democratic candidates in Rhode Island!
Now, whose names can we write-in for State Representative for District 40 and State Senate for District 21? Democrats and progressive Independents of Foster, Coventry, Scituate, West Greenwich, Coventry, Glocester - WE NEED YOU!
