🚧 Sewer Smoke Testing – Gulliver Oaks & Dawn Creek
The City of Fountain Inn is conducting routine sewer smoke testing today, Wednesday, August 26, in the Gulliver Oaks and Dawn Creek subdivisions.
Testing is expected to begin around 1:00 p.m. in Gulliver Oaks, followed by Dawn Creek. Crews anticipate testing will take approximately 30–45 minutes in each area.
💨 What is smoke testing?
Smoke testing is a routine part of maintaining our sewer system and helps City crews identify potential issues such as missing or damaged cleanouts, broken connections, and other areas where stormwater may be entering the sewer system.
The smoke used during testing is non-toxic and harmless. Smoke should not enter homes or businesses with properly functioning plumbing. If smoke does enter a building, it may indicate a plumbing issue or an opening in the sewer system that should be addressed.
This testing is part of the City’s annual sewer system evaluation and CMOM reporting. Our sewer system is divided into 10 basins, and crews are focusing on Basin 7 this year, which includes Gulliver Oaks and Dawn Creek.
The Fountain Inn Police Department & Fountain Inn Fire Department are aware of the testing.
Thank you for your patience as our Public Works team works to proactively maintain Fountain Inn’s sewer infrastructure!
