Fountain Fire Department

09/11/2026

On this twenty-fifth anniversary, we remember September 11, 2001—a day that forever changed our nation and the fire service.

From the Fountain Fire Department’s perspective, 9/11 represents more than a moment in history. It is a reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment of the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to those in need. We also honor the police officers, emergency medical personnel, military members, and countless civilians whose lives were lost that day.

Their legacy lives on in the work we do every day: answering the call, protecting our communities, standing beside one another, and ensuring that those who follow us are prepared for the challenges ahead.

We remember their names. We honor their sacrifice. We carry their legacy forward.

Never forget.

A New Chapter in a Lifetime of Service

Today at Fire House #1, we had the opportunity to celebrate Lieutenant Eric Markowski and more than 25 years of dedicated service with the Fountain Fire Department as he prepares for an exciting new chapter.

Lt. Markowski has accepted the position of Fire Chief with the Kiowa Fire Protection District. Throughout his career with Fountain Fire, he has served our community and department with dedication, leadership, and a strong commitment to the fire service.

His experience, knowledge, and friendship will certainly be missed around the firehouse, but we couldn’t be more excited to see him take this well-earned next step.

Please join us in congratulating Chief Markowski and wishing him continued success in his new role.

Thank you for 25+ years of service to Fountain, and congratulations, Chief!

Thank you so much to American Legion Auxiliary Unit 38 for your generous donation! We had such a wonderful evening filled with delicious food, great conversation, and an even better group of people. We truly appreciate your support and generosity!

At tonight’s Fountain City Council meeting, Lisa Langley with the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 38 presented Fire Chief Devin Graham and Fountain Fire Department with a check for $1000.

The money comes from the Auxiliary’s monthly dinner fundraiser.

The City of Fountain greatly appreciates this donation and the many other efforts by the American Legion to positively impact the Fountain community.

Expanding Advanced Care: Propofol

Another advanced medication is now available on all Fountain Fire Department ambulances: propofol.

For critically ill or injured patients, our paramedics may need to place a breathing tube and take control of the patient's airway. Successfully placing that airway is only part of providing high-quality care. After intubation, appropriate sedation is an important part of caring for that patient.

Propofol gives our paramedics another tool for providing post-intubation sedation while a mechanically ventilated patient is being treated and transported to the hospital. This isn't simply new equipment sitting on an ambulance. Our paramedics have already administered propofol in the field as part of caring for a patient requiring advanced airway management.

Combined with advanced airway procedures, mechanical ventilators, medication infusion pumps, and continuous monitoring, medications such as propofol allow our crews to provide an increasingly sophisticated level of care outside the hospital. Adding this capability represents another significant improvement in the care available to our community.

We continue to invest in our people, training, equipment, and medical capabilities so that when someone experiences a life-threatening emergency, advanced care can begin where the emergency happens—not just when they reach the hospital.

Advanced Care. Close to Home.
