We finished our build of “zeke 2.0” today. It is a 2026 f350 with a 300 gallon tank. Zeke 1.0 started out its life as a farm pickup in 2003. The fire department bought in 2012 and Eric Zimmerman “Zeke” and Brandon Hageman built it into our second 1 ton fire truck in 2013. Not long after “The ol white dodge” was finished Eric was diagnosed with cancer. In 2015 Eric didn’t beat the cancer and went to live with Jesus and become one of our guardian angels. We renamed “the ol white dodge” to “zeke” and it has become a memorial to Eric. After the lightning fires this spring the poor dodge chassis was tired. All of the fire fighters swapped the bed to the new chassis and gave Zeke 2.0 new life again. We are very proud to keep Erics legacy going and hope to have many years of service from “Zeke 2.0”

I hate to make this post, but this is the forecast for today. If you own a disc and a tractor you should probably hook it up and fill it with fuel. If you have a big water trailer you should probably fill it up. I pray we won’t need it but it is better to be safe and ready. That being said please be safe and if you see smoke call it in so we can get a quick jump on any fire that might get started.

Wind gusts as high as 30 to 35 mph will be possible this afternoon south of a Ulysses to Dodge City to Larned line as the humidity falls to around 20%. There is also a slight chance of high based thunderstorms which may produce little rainfall. This combination will elevate the risk of lightning induced fires. Please stay weather aware and take appropriate fire prevention measures today.

As a thank you for the incredible support, generosity, and donations we’ve received from our community, we’d like to give back by serving a free breakfast for anyone who would like to join us.

Not a runner? That’s okay! We’d still love to see you there. Come enjoy breakfast, visit with friends and neighbors, and check out our fire trucks! We’ll have our trucks out of the station for the morning so anyone who wants can “touch a truck”.

Breakfast will begin being cooked at 7:00 AM at the fire station, with Fun Run registration beginning at 7:00 AM and the run starting at 7:30 AM. Bring your friends.

Thank you again for your continued support. We truly appreciate this community and look forward to spending the morning with you!

Thank you to everyone who has donated to Fowler Fire! Our station is well stocked with supplies. We are blown away by your generosity and support. We couldn't do what we do without you. We have had plenty of requests about donations and now have a Venmo for those of you near and far who want to donate directly to Fowler Fire. With all the activity on Friday and Saturday, I have lost my grandcat. Her name is Lady, and I would like her to return home. She is black with calico colors throughout her fur. She is sassy and loves to talk.

I wanted to stop for a moment and say a quick thank you to our community and the surrounding communities who have been dropping off supplies, meals, drinks, and numerous other items at the station. We are overwhelmed by your love and support.

To our wives, kids, parents, and friends who prepared meals for us, checked on us, and let us sleep even though the chaos of everyday life was still happening — thank you for holding down the line back home and allowing us to do the same out here.

To the employers who allowed their employees to step away from their day-to-day jobs, thank you for allowing these men to help and assist over the past few days.

To the numerous individuals who hauled us water, brought tractors and disks out, operated road graders, and provided county assets — thank you for helping keep us supplied, assisting with fire breaks, and giving us a fighting chance to stop this fire when it felt like there wasn’t one.

To all the departments assisting us and giving us a chance to catch our breath and get our feet back under us, thank you for stepping away from your homes and communities to help wrangle this beast.

I’m sure I’m missing someone, but thank you to each and every one of you for standing alongside us through these past few days. We couldn’t do it without all of you.

Going to the fire station these last couple weeks is like Christmas Day every day. Thank you cards from the meade and Fowler schools. Thank you to the students and teachers. Thank you cards from people that were impacted by the fires. Then the mountain of water and Gatorade!! Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. Sincerely, the Fowler fire department.

All of Fowler Fire is home and safe.

We want to take a moment to thank every single person who donated water, Gatorade, snacks, pizza, sandwiches, and so much more over the last two days. Your generosity does not go unnoticed.

There are firefighters who were out for over 24 hours. Having the support of our communities during these long and exhausting shifts means more than we can put into words.

The last two days have been tough, but once again our communities have shown what we do best. We stand together and we fight together.
