My heart goes out to the two officers who were shot this morning in West Philadelphia. I am keeping them, their families, fellow officers, and all first responders in my thoughts and prayers.

I am deeply saddened to learn of this violence against our officers. These brave men and women put their lives on the line to protect us everyday. They deserve to go home to their families. Senseless acts of violence against police have no place here, especially against our every day heroes, our first responders.

I was proud to join API PA at Kai Yuan Temple on Cottman Ave. earlier this month. We helped distribute food to hundreds of our neighbors. We ensured that food was on their table. I’m grateful that our community can come together to uplift and feed one another. As I return to Harrisburg for another session week, the needs of Northeast Philadelphians are my top priority!

Last week, I visited the Pennypack Environmental Center to meet with University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and their researchers. The university, in partnership with the City of Philadelphia and Pennypack Park, are conducting remote research to identify which animal species live in our parks.

This research is especially important for us here in Northeast Philadelphia, which is home to many green spaces that we share with deer, foxes, squirrels, and many kinds of birds. This project will help everyone learn more about human-nature interactions and better understand the health of the city we all live in! Check out some pictures the remote cameras have captured from this summer.
