This morning, the Frankfort Audubon Society and Frankfort Parks and Recreation were joined by Mayor Wilkerson to cut the ribbon on the newly constructed fully accessible bird blind at Leslie Morris Park at Fort Hill.

This bird blind will be the first in Kentucky to be listed on the national Birdability website, recognizing Frankfort’s commitment to accessible design and inclusive nature engagement.

It was created through a collaborative effort led by Frankfort Audubon Society’s Bird Blind Committee, including Scott Hankla, Betty Barr, and Kristin Nelson; and constructed by Blake Thompson and Tim Hosley of Frankfort Parks, Recreation & Historic Sites. All materials for the project were furnished by the Frankfort Audubon Society.

The blind is open for public use at Fort Hill, we welcome the community to get out and check it out!

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of an upcoming change to the traffic pattern on KY 420 (Ann Street) between Clinton and Broadway Street in Franklin County, where the roadway will be converted from a one-way to a two-way tomorrow, Oct. 20.

As part of the active resurfacing project, pavement markings and roadway signs will be installed on KY 420 (Ann Street) on Tuesday, Oct. 20, with intermittent lane closures possible to support the work.

The new traffic pattern is being implemented to support an upcoming highway safety improvement project that will also convert Mero Street from one-way to two-way traffic between St. Clair Street and Ann Street.

Motorists should adhere to the new traffic pattern and exercise caution on this newly configured roadway.
