🚒 Building Connections, Inspiring Confidence, and Celebrating Everyday Heroes! ❤️

Williamson County Fire Rescue was proud to join our public safety partners at BrightStone this week for a special day celebrating the real-life heroes who serve our community!

Our relationship with BrightStone extends well beyond events like this one. Throughout the year, BrightStone students regularly visit WCFR Station 24, where they spend time with our firefighters, learn about the fire service, explore our equipment, and even lend a helping hand with tasks around the station.

These visits have become a meaningful partnership, providing opportunities for students to develop new skills, build confidence, and engage with their local first responders. Just as importantly, our firefighters look forward to the time spent together and the relationships we’ve built along the way.

We’re grateful for our continued partnership with BrightStone and appreciate the opportunity to support an organization that makes such a positive impact in Williamson County.

Thank you, BrightStone, for allowing us to be part of your community. We’re proud to have you as part of ours! ❤️🚒

🚨 MISSING PERSON LOCATED WITH ASSISTANCE FROM WCFR DRONE 🚁

Yesterday, October 16, Williamson County Fire Rescue (WCFR) responded to assist with a search for a missing teenager in Williamson County.

Drone 14 was deployed to assist with aerial search operations and, within just 15 minutes of becoming airborne, located the missing teenager walking just outside a wooded area. The subject was subsequently evaluated on scene by Williamson Health EMS. No further information is available at this time.

Arrington Fire Rescue also responded with a drone resource to support search operations.

🤝 A Coordinated Public Safety Response

Successful search operations depend on strong partnerships and coordination between public safety agencies. We appreciate the assistance and collaboration of our partners:

🚁 Technology That Makes a Difference

Unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), commonly known as drones, have become an invaluable asset in modern public safety operations. Equipped with thermal imaging and aerial observation capabilities, these aircraft allow first responders to rapidly search large areas, identify potential heat signatures, and access perspectives that would otherwise be difficult or time-consuming for ground crews.

WCFR currently maintains two thermal-capable drone platforms available for deployment throughout the Middle Tennessee region. These resources support missing person searches, search and rescue operations, structure and wildland fires, disaster response, and other emergency incidents.

Yesterday’s response is another example of how technology, training, and interagency cooperation can make a meaningful difference when every minute matters.

Proud to serve. Ready to respond.

🔥 TENNESSEE BURN PERMIT SEASON BEGINS TODAY! 🔥

Today, October 15, marks the beginning of Tennessee’s annual burn permit season, which runs through May 15, 2027.

If you’re planning to burn leaves, brush, or other natural vegetation, a FREE burn permit from the Tennessee Division of Forestry is required before you light that fire, unless more restrictive local regulations apply.

📋 HOW TO GET YOUR FREE PERMIT:

🌐 Online: www.BurnSafeTN.org

📞 By Phone: 1-877-350-BURN (2876)

📱 Mobile App: MyTN (iOS and Android)

⚠️ BEFORE YOU BURN:

✅ Check weather conditions and local burning restrictions.

✅ Obtain your permit before starting your fire.

✅ Keep water and fire suppression tools nearby.

✅ Never leave a fire unattended.

✅ Completely extinguish your fire before leaving.

Remember, even a small debris fire can quickly spread out of control, especially during dry or windy conditions. A burn permit does not eliminate your responsibility to keep your fire contained.

🚒 Williamson County Fire Rescue reminds everyone to burn responsibly. Taking a few extra precautions can help prevent wildfires, protect property, and keep our community safe.

When in doubt, don’t burn!

🚒 MEET YOUR VOLUNTEERS: MATTHEW FLANAGAN

Our “Meet Your Volunteers” series continues with Matthew Flanagan, a volunteer Firefighter/Emergency Medical Responder who found a home in Williamson County and a way to give back through WCFR!

Matthew joined in June 2025, turning a longtime interest in the fire service into an opportunity to serve his neighbors, challenge himself, and be part of something bigger.

Outside the department, Matthew works as a workers’ compensation claims adjuster. He dedicates much of his weekend time to volunteering and regularly trains during the week. He’s currently working toward his EMT certification and completing Pump Apparatus Driver Operator training.

Since joining, Matthew has trained in vehicle extrication, hazardous materials, water rescue, and drone operations. Becoming qualified to drive and operate brush and utility apparatus has been a proud milestone, and a swift water rescue training weekend in Chattanooga stands out as one of his most memorable experiences.

What keeps him coming back? The people.

💬 “There’s something special about working alongside people who are willing to give their time, train together, and show up for complete strangers when they need help.”

For anyone considering volunteering, Matthew offers this encouragement:

“You don’t have to know anything about firefighting when you start, and you don’t have to have everything figured out. There are people there who will teach you, train with you, and help you along the way.”

When he’s away from work and the station, Matthew enjoys traveling, exploring new places, and stepping outside his usual routine. 🌎

Thank you, Matthew, for your commitment to learning and serving the community you now call home!

Interested in taking that first step yourself? Send us a message to learn more about volunteering with WCFR.

An incredible afternoon with an even greater impact! 🚒❤️

At this year’s Racing for Rescue event, OMNIA Partners, Sunbelt Rentals, and the Gary Sinise Foundation donated $77,908.77 toward a new Polaris Off Road UTV for Williamson County Fire Rescue!

Assigned to Station 21 and equipped with a fire suppression and rescue skid, this vehicle will help our volunteers reach places a full size fire truck can’t. It will bring personnel and equipment to brush fires, support searches, and transport injured patients from areas that are difficult to access.

As an all volunteer department, community support makes a meaningful difference in our ability to serve. This generous donation is an investment in our volunteers’ safety and the people who count on us.

Thank you to OMNIA Partners for hosting Racing for Rescue, to Sunbelt Rentals and the Gary Sinise Foundation for their incredible support, and to everyone who came out to walk, meet our members, and cheer us on. Your generosity will make a difference long after the event! 👏

🔋🔥 Fire Prevention Week starts today!

October 4–10, Williamson County Fire Rescue is joining departments nationwide to share this year’s message: “Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower.”

From phones and tablets to power tools and e-bikes, rechargeable devices are part of everyday life. A few simple habits can help protect your home and family:

🔌 Use the manufacturer-recommended charger.
🪨 Charge on a hard, flat surface—not a bed, couch, or pillow.
✅ Unplug devices when they’re fully charged.
⚠️ Stop using batteries that swell, overheat, or show signs of damage.

Take a moment today to check where and how your family charges its devices. Small changes can make a big difference!
