Today, Frederick County State’s Attorney Charlie Smith represented the National District Attorneys Association (NDAA) at the White House for a national discussion on Protecting American Families and Seniors from Cybercrime.
Cybercrime knows no geographic boundaries. From online child exploitation and s*xtortion to financial scams targeting seniors and vulnerable individuals, these crimes have devastating consequences for victims, families, and communities.
Here in Frederick County, our State’s Attorney’s Office sees firsthand how technology is increasingly used to exploit victims and facilitate criminal activity. Through our Cyber Crimes Task Force, INTERCEPT, and partnerships with local, state, and federal law enforcement, we remain committed to investigating and prosecuting these crimes, supporting survivors, and preventing further victimization.
We are proud to have Frederick County represented in this important national conversation and to contribute to efforts that strengthen our collective ability to protect children, families, and vulnerable adults.
