🎨 Help support Whittier Art Club!

Whittier Art Club is working on a special multi-grade level art installation, and we’d love the community’s help gathering the materials needed to bring it to life! ✨

An Amazon wishlist has been created with the supplies the club will need:

🎃 Registration is OPEN for the Headless Horseman Fun Run & 5K!

📅 Sunday, October 25, 2026
📍 Baker Park bandshell, 121 N Bentz St, Frederick MD
⏰ 1K Fun Run 8:30am | 5K 9:00am
🔗 https://runsignup.com/Race/MD/Frederick/HeadlessHorseman5K

The West Frederick Middle School and Frederick High School PTSAs are bringing this one back, and it's built for everyone — stroller-pushers, first-timers, speed demons, and everybody in between. It's a Steeple Chasers–supported race with chipped bibs, so our competitive runners can be scary fast. The 5K winds through Baker Park and the surrounding neighborhoods; the Fun Run stays inside the park between Bentz St and College Ave.

Costumes strongly encouraged. Prize categories: Best Overall, Scariest, Funniest, Most Creative, Best Headless Horseman/Sleepy Hollow, Best Family or Group, and Best Kids Costume.

👟 CLEAN OUT YOUR CLOSET: We're collecting gently used running shoes for the Stride Forward Youth Program, a student-run nonprofit in Urbana that donates shoes to cross country and track athletes in underserved programs. Bring them with you!

📦 Packet pickup: Saturday 10/24, 1–3pm in front of Frederick High School, or race morning starting at 7:30am.

💛 Why it matters: proceeds are split evenly between the two school communities.

Grab your spot, grab a costume, and we'll see you at the bandshell. Please share with your neighbors! 👻
