Mrs. Hedlund’s 7th-grade scholars have been busy in science class! Students recently observed and recorded the physical and chemical properties of six different substances. Now, they are analyzing their findings to identify a mystery substance and solve a crime!

Our 8th grade class took a trip to Governor Thomas Johnson High School, where they enjoyed a performance by the Academy for the Fine Arts. The AFA is a magnet program for 10th-12th graders focused on visual and performing arts. They presented for county middle schools their Cabaret, a showcase for all five focus areas: dance, theater, music, visual art, and musical theater. This performance shows our middle schoolers possible pathways in high school. Thanks to the AFA program for making this program available to our scholars and thank you to Mr. Pastena for organizing this wonderful event.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved teacher, Dr. P. (Dr. David Pietropaoli.)

More than an exceptional Latin instructor, he was a cornerstone of the FCCS community—an indispensable presence whose influence touched every corner of our school. Dr. P was profoundly admired and cherished by his scholars, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Mr. LaRose’s 5th grade students recently practiced taking accurate scientific measurements using meter sticks, beakers, graduated cylinders, and triple-beam balances. By comparing qualitative and quantitative observations, they learned the importance of precision in scientific investigations.
