Butterfly Ridge Families: Our Lost & Found has grown a lot just this week — it has basically doubled/tripled in size.

Please take a few minutes to remind your student to check the Lost & Found, especially during morning arrival. We are encouraging students to look through it this week to see if any jackets, sweatshirts, or other clothing belong to them.

Parents, if you are able, please label jackets and other clothing items, especially on the inside tag. That helps us return items to students much more quickly.

At Butterfly Ridge, we do our best to organize the Lost & Found each morning so students can quickly look through it. We also try to highlight a few items that stand out in hopes that students will recognize and reclaim them.

Next week during conferences, the Lost & Found will be on display in the middle of our main hallway. Please be sure to stop by and take a look while you are here.

Unfortunately, at the end of conferences, we will need to donate any clothing that remains so that we can clear space for the rest of the year.

Thank you for helping us keep track of student belongings and for encouraging your child to be responsible for their clothing.

Nothing sweeter than learning hands-on! 🍏🍎

Yesterday, students in Mrs. Sliter's Agricultural Science classes at BRES had a delicious and
educational experience celebrating Maryland Apple Month! Thanks to Farm to School Frederick Veggie Van program,
our classroom received 2 bushels (approx. 218 apples!) of fresh Golden Delicious and Gala
apples straight from Catoctin Mountain Orchard

During the unit, students got to:
• Explore and compare different apple varieties
• Learn the science behind taste and how our taste buds work
• Practiced differentiating various fruits and vegetables

Check out some photos from our amazing young agricultural scientists in action!

💚💛 I’m the Us in 💛💚

This week, we are celebrating our BRES runners who represented Butterfly Ridge at the Bernard “Pappy” Lorenzen Memorial Cross Country Meet! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

💚💛 We are incredibly proud of these students for taking on the challenge, giving their best effort, and representing our school with determination and Blazer pride.

Now we want to spread some love across our whole BRES community!

Who deserves a shoutout this weekend?

💚 Want to recognize your own student?
💛 Want to thank another parent?
💚 Want to recognize a staff member?
💛 Did your child tell you about someone who made a difference for them?

A kind shoutout never hurt anyone. Let’s see if we can get at least 3 shoutouts in the comments this weekend!

Thank you again to our BRES runners for being the Us in .

Butterfly Ridge Families: We Need Your Voice!

We are starting a new Community School survey.

This survey will help us plan for the next five years at Butterfly Ridge.

We want to know what is working well for families, what families need, and what our school can do better.

Your answers will help us make decisions about programs, family support, community partners, and other services.

Later this school year, we will also meet with small groups of families to learn more. The survey will help us decide what we need to talk about during those meetings.

Last time, about 40% of our families answered the survey. This year, we want to hear from even more of you!

Please complete the survey by November 2:

Your voice matters. Please help us plan the future of Butterfly Ridge.

Take this survey powered by surveymonkey.com. Create your own surveys for free.

💚💛 I’m the Us in 💛💚

💚 This week we are recognizing Zach Sheahin from New Life Church, one of our amazing community partners. Zach is pictured in our new Community Room, a space New Life Church helped us bring to life by supporting the painting and preparation of the room. We are incredibly thankful for New Life’s continued commitment to Butterfly Ridge and their willingness to invest time and energy into our school. Even more good news, the poster printer funded through last year’s fundraiser has officially arrived and is now in the Community Room!

💛 We are also recognizing Mr. Joe Basford, our Physical Education teacher. Mr. Basford is always finding ways to go above and beyond for our students. For the past several years, he has led our morning Run Club and recently took a group of BRES students to compete in the Pappy Lorenzen Cross Country Meet. We’ll be celebrating those students next week when their awards arrive, but today we want to recognize Mr. Basford for continuing to create opportunities for our students beyond the regular school day.

💚 And sometimes you don’t need a special reason for a shout-out! Today was Picture Day, and we had plenty of students who came to school dressed to impress. We couldn’t resist showing off a few of our BRES stars as we head into the weekend!

Thank you again to Zach Sheahin, Mr. Basford, New Life Church, and our amazing students for being the Us in .

Do you know someone who should be nominated? Put their name in the comments and tell us who you think is the Us in !

Have a great weekend, BRES!
