The recent comments made by Mr. Shaun Porter at the FCPS Board of Education meeting on September 23rd regarding the sexual assault of a non-verbal student with special needs at Oakdale by an aide were exceedingly inappropriate and unnecessary.

The Common Sense Slate for FCPS BoE (Shelley Potter for Frederick County Board of Ed, Geoff Seidel for Frederick County Board of Education and Tyler Walker For Frederick support freedom of speech, but desire to set an example of professionalism and decorum when expressing very real criticisms toward the current Board of Education.

We understand Mr. Porter then promoted all of the Orange Ballot endorsed candidates. We will continue to fight for common sense policies that protect our students, but do not condone this use of profanity, especially in that setting where children are likely listening.

Here is the Fall lineup for the A-Team in the Nov election. Save a picture on your phone to take with you into the voting booth. Do your homework before you vote. There are huge differences between the parties. Common Sense Slate for FCPS BoE is a great option if you're ready to see FCPS move the needle of hand waving, all is well, keeping secrets from parents, a minimalist approach to student discipline, shirking student and teacher safety, permitting boys in girls bathrooms despite Federal law, and much more. The Teachers Union (Apple Ballot) should not be running FCPS and the BOE. Let's steer this ship into new waters, together.
