Foundation First's vision is that all children from birth to five have a solid foundation that leads to success.

Foundation First's mission is to unify our community to promote equitable access to resources for all children birth to five. We serve Loudoun, Prince William, Fauquier, Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, Stafford, Caroline, King George, Culpeper Counties, and the cities of Manassas, Manassas Park, and Fredericksburg. Foundation First implements several early childhood strategies in our region in order to enhance the quality of early childhood education and service programs for children from birth to age five. We are a coalition of over 40 public and private agencies, businesses, and individuals. We are funded through generous donations from local businesses, organizations and individuals, and the Ready Region grant from the Virginia Early Childhood Foundation.

💙 Stronger partnerships. Stronger early childhood systems. Stronger communities.

Yesterday, early childhood leaders from across the Commonwealth came together in Newport News for the Early Childhood Advisory Committee (ECAC) meeting to discuss one of the most important challenges facing Virginia’s children, families, and workforce: access to affordable, high-quality child care.

The meeting brought together representatives from the Virginia Department of Education - VDOE, Virginia Early Childhood Foundation, and Ready Regions to share perspectives, explore challenges, and identify opportunities for continued collaboration.

As the lead organization for Ready Region North Central, Foundation First is proud to be part of a statewide network working to strengthen early childhood care and education, support educators and providers, and create more opportunities for children and families to thrive.

While the challenges facing our early childhood system are complex, meaningful progress happens when we work together. 🤝

At Monday’s All-Staff Meeting, we took some time to step away from our day-to-day work, have a little fun, and strengthen the connections that make our team stronger! Through team-building games, plenty of laughs, and a little friendly competition, we were reminded that while each of us brings something different to the table, every role plays an important part in the bigger picture.
Just like a puzzle, our work is strongest when all the pieces come together. 🧩✨
Here’s to teamwork, connection, and remembering that every piece and every person matters!

Foundation First offices will be closed on Monday, September 7th. We honor the hard work and dedication of all our team members and the community.

Yesterday, observers from across our Ready Region came together for a full day of connection, learning, and collaboration at our Precision in Practice Observer Conference! Through engaging activities, thoughtful discussion, and reflection, participants sharpened their observation and notetaking skills, exchanged ideas with fellow observers, and walked away with practical strategies to strengthen their work in the field.

A special thank you to Prince William County Public Schools Superintendent LaTanya D. McDade for joining us and kicking off the conference with an opening welcome. We’re also incredibly grateful to Courtney, our Observer Specialist, and Amudha, our Director of Quality & Improvement, for thoughtfully planning and bringing this entire day of professional learning to life.

Thank you to every observer who joined us and contributed their experience, ideas, and perspective. Here’s to continuing to build precision in practice and strengthening the quality of observations across our region! 💙 🔍
