Some pretty amazing things are happening in Mrs. Garrity’s classroom! On Friday, she and her students celebrated a fantastic first quarter of school by creating their very own Reading Tree! 🌳📖
Mrs. Garrity has been sharing a love for reading by taking advantage of the wonderful resources available through our local public library!
Through the Missouri Evergreen system, more than 50 libraries across the state work together to share books and resources. Students can search for books they’re interested in, request them through our local library, and enjoy reading them right in their classroom!
The REALLY impressive part is that Mrs. Garrity’s class has already checked out and read 132 books from our local library! 📚
To celebrate all that reading, students created a colorful Reading Tree, with each leaf representing a special category:
💛 Yellow Leaves: Books connected to our monthly character words.
💚 Green Leaves: Fiction books.
❤️ Red Leaves: Nonfiction books.
Thank you to Mrs. Garrity for going above and beyond to bring books into her classroom, encourage young readers, & show her students just how much fun reading can be!
