Mission San Jose is the 14th of 21 California missions. Citizens formed CRMSJ in 1975 to authentically reconstruct the Mission Church.

Completed in 1985, CRMSJ has since dedicated itself to the continued financing and restoration of the mission.

Fr. William Abeloe, pastor of St. Joseph Church - Old Mission San Jose from 1977-1982, was a noted historian, author, and driver behind the Mission Church reconstruction. But DID YOU KNOW, he once published his famous margarita recipe in the parish bulletin? In his honor, margaritas will be served at CRMSJ's Founder's Gala reception on June 13th. DID YOU KNOW? On March 31, 1776, exactly 250 years ago today, Juan Bautista de Anza and a small exploration group rode quickly by the Ohlone village of Oroysom in present day Fremont, a site noted by Anza's Expedition as a potential future mission site. They were tasked to build and sustain a military fort to guard the entrance to San Francisco Bay and to establish the first Spanish town in Alta California, the Pueblo of San Jose. Mission San Jose's Patio Garden has a USA Bicentennial marker commemorating the Anza Expedition.
