The storm door opens back up tomorrow and continues off and on through the weekend. Be sure to check the latest forecast and advisories if you have flight plans!

A series of storms moving across the Pacific will bring periods of rain and heavy mountain snow to northern California over the next several days. The periods of heaviest precipitation will be Wednesday into Thursday, Friday and Sunday into Monday. Renewed flooding will be possible at the lower elevations with travel impacts likely over the mountains

The latest on this weekends storm from our colleagues at the National Weather Service San Francisco Bay Area/Monterey office.
Looks for widespread IFR, Turb, and Icing this weekend. Gusty southerly winds will begin late tonight and last throughout the day Saturday.

Have flying plans this weekend? Please keep an eye on the forecast concerning a second and more potent atmospheric river event for the area. Expect wdsprd cigs, heavy rain, white out conditions across mountain areas, mod and even sev icing pockets across the foot hills and sierra, and mod turb. If you are flying commercially out of SFO, be sure to check with your airline regarding departure and arrival delays.

A moderately strong and fairly cold weather system will bring snow to the northern California mountains today. Snow levels are low enough that significant travel impacts are expected. If you must travel through the mountains today or tonight….be sure and check the latest road and weather reports BEFORE departure.

Significant travel impacts tomorrow through Saturday with this winter storm. Be prepared for big delays, possible chain restrictions and definitely some winter conditions if you must travel over the Sierra Passes!

Leave today or VERY early Friday to avoid the mess Friday and Saturday.

Lgt-mod chop in the upper levels will continue across ESE ZOA and diminish in to the afternoon. The break will be brief as a strong pacific system will approach the area tonight and bring widespread turb, icing, ceilings, diminished vis, and widespread rain across much of the airspace.
