Dear Ardenwood Math Olympians and Parents,

Thank you for your patience as we’ve worked out the logistics of being able to offer a Math Club at Ardenwood School this year! This year, PTA has agreed to sponsor our math club and is seeking donations to support our club.

Please join us for the 2020-2021 Ardenwood Math Club. This club is for students who love math and enjoy a challenge.

Due to the Distance Learning format, we are only participating in Math Olympiad (MOEMs) and AMC8 (primarily for 6th graders.) Additionally, you will be proctoring your own student’s contests and will likely need to sign an Academic Integrity form.

To start, we will be meeting on Zoom on Wednesdays: 1:15 pm for 4th grade; 1:30 pm for 5th grade, & 1:45 pm for 6th grade.
This is due to the fact that some classes don’t get out on Wednesdays until 1:15 pm and I teach 8:20-11:20 am & 2:00-3:00 pm daily. If more time is needed, we’ll have to shift the club to run from 3:00-4:00 pm.

This year, we still have to pay to participate in the Math Olympiad for all Intermediate grades and AMC8 for 6th grade. Please make your 4th and 5th grade $10 donation and 6th grade $15 donation today!

Ardie Pumpkin Decorating Challenge 10/31/2020

https://youtu.be/9It8Ih-ac0I

Thank you all for participating in PTA’s October community engagement activity! I really enjoyed going through everyone’s pumpkin designs and seeing what amazing artists we have at the school. Your children are so talented! I have already notified the raffle winners, but I wanted to hand out something to EVERYONE that participated. So, this Monday (November 2) from 9am - 3pm I will have a small Halloween goodie bag for ALL students who participated to pick up. This time around I’m not attaching individual names to each goodie bag, we’ll just go on the honor code and hope people only pick up if they had a participant in this challenge and only one goodie bag per student submission. All items will be laid inside the school gates near where teachers put out work for students to drop off and pick up. Email me at [email protected] if you have any trouble finding your student’s prize.

We hope to see your students’ names again for our next community engagement activity! Note I will only be setting these out on Monday ONLY as I have to pick them up each day to make sure they don’t fall victim to the weather. If you cannot pick them up on Monday, email me and I’ll coordinate a different drop off for you and your child. Also, a note that these goody bags have a few candy treats in them (all nut-free) since they’re for Halloween. If you would prefer not to pick one up for your child, we understand!

Happy Halloween!🎃👻🎃👻🎃👻🎃👻🎃👻🎃👻🎃👻🎃👻🎃👻🎃

Hi Ardenwood Families,

We hope you enjoyed your weekend!

Red Ribbon Week starts on Monday, October 26th - October 31st and the poster/t-shirt/slogan contest entries are due on Sunday, November 1st. This is a great way for students to show their Dragon spirit on how to be happy, brave and drug free.

PTA's Pumpkin Decorating Contest is a great way to spend family time while being creative with Ardie the Dragon and decorating a pumpkin.

We are also encouraging our students to practice environmentally friendly habits. Rethink your Halloween costume and Dragon's Go Green October Challenge are two ways you can help your student learn about recycling.

If you are enjoying are weekly free PTA events, please encourage your student's classroom families to join PTA this month! We look forward to sharing more of our PTA treats for your family to enjoy!

Don't forget to update your Dragon Readers log! - Dragon Readers is going virtual at Ardenwood Elementary this year. Our theme is “Going the Distance.” Ardie got things mixed up and went a long distance away to do his distance learning. Students must read books to help give him the energy he needs to long-distance run home to Ardenwood before the end of the school year! To meet our reading goal for the year, students need to update the Dragon Readers log with how many minutes they read each week. Updates on progress towards goal will be given each month! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfKkIJ5auw6ffwB6id578-ZHXXWcNYq4sgvVTS8fopcNYEqLQ/viewform
