Fremont Police Department will be conducting training in the areas of 38495 Fremont Blvd and 8000 Patterson Road on Monday, October 19 and Friday, October 23, from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Residents and visitors may notice an increased law enforcement and fire department presence, with marked and unmarked police vehicles, and training-related activity at these locations during the listed hours. As part of the exercise, there may also be loud noises, simulated tactical operations, and the use of training smoke. This is a planned training event, and there is no threat to public safety. We appreciate your understanding, and the training is structured to limit the impact on the surrounding community.

The training will take place on:
• Monday, October 19, from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
• Friday, October 23, from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

October is National Crime Prevention Month! This month and every month, we need your help to report suspicious activity and provide valuable information that can help keep our community safe.

Here are some reminders when reporting suspicious activity:

🕵️‍♂️ Keep an eye out for things that are unusual. Especially in your own neighborhood, make note of vehicles that don’t belong to any of your neighbors, that seem to be casing the area, or are parked in your neighborhood at unusual hours. For more tips on spotting suspicious activity, check out our website: fremontpolice.gov/Suspicious.

📞Call the non-emergency line to report suspicious activity. The non-emergency line is 510-790-6800, option 3. Our email, direct messages, and tip line are only viewed during business hours, but our non-emergency line is staffed 24/7. And for crimes in progress and threats to safety, always call 911.

⏰ Don’t wait. Report suspicious activity as it is occurring. Officers can be dispatched to respond and catch suspicious activity before a crime occurs.

And remember, not all suspicious activity will turn out to be criminal—don't be embarrassed if your suspicions prove unfounded. Report it anyway to help us prevent crime before it happens!

Mowry Avenue will be closed between Mission Boulevard and Overacker Ave on Saturday, October 17, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

The closure is necessary to perform pump station maintenance, asphalt patching, directional delineator repair and replacement, and cleaning and sweeping of debris that is difficult to collect while the roadway is open.

Residents and motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes, plan ahead, and allow additional travel time while the work is being completed.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to maintain Fremont’s infrastructure and keep our streets safe and reliable.

October is National Pedestrian Safety Month. Drivers are urged to slow down and be alert for people walking.

Fremont, Calif. – October is National Pedestrian Safety Month and the Fremont Police Department would like to remind drivers to take extra precautions to help protect people walking.

“In Fremont, we’re committed to reinforcing everyday safety actions like slowing down, following the posted speed limit, staying alert and yielding to people in crosswalks,” Lt. Ken Kwok said. “Drivers have an outsized role to keep all people walking safe. Remember that pedestrians do not have the same protections as drivers and passengers traveling inside vehicles.”

On average, 19 pedestrians are killed in traffic crashes every day in the United States, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. In 2024, an estimated 7,080 people walking were struck and killed by vehicles. Of those people, 1,090 were killed in California alone.

Fremont Police Department offers these driving tips to keep everyone safe:
• Follow the speed limit, especially in areas with heavy foot traffic, around schools and in neighborhoods where children are present.
• Slow down at intersections. Be prepared to stop for people crossing or walking at marked and unmarked crosswalks.
• Use extra caution when driving at night or when driving conditions are less than optimal such as rain or fog.
• Avoid distractions such as using a mobile device, deep conversations with passengers or eating while driving. Keep your focus on the road.
• Drive sober.

Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
