Innovative Home Financing Options for Newcomers Webinar: Thursday, June 25 @ 3:00 p.m. ET
Join us Thursday, June 25 at 3:00 p.m. ET as we co-host a webinar on innovative home financing, specifically focusing on the Islamic home financing model, with new RHS partner Guidance Residential.
Guidance Residential is pleased to provide an overview of their unique Islamic home financing model, built around co-ownership rather than traditional lending and available to individuals and families of all faiths.
Unlike a bank, Guidance is an independent organization that does not lend money but instead enters into a co-ownership agreement with homebuyers. Learn how their declining balance structure works, how clients gradually increase ownership over time, and what makes their model different, including shared risk principles and an alternative pathway to homeownership.
This webinar will provide resettlement professionals operating ORR-funded programs, as well as state and local agencies looking to improve supports for their newcomer constituents, with practical insights on helping newcomer families in the United States understand available home financing options.

Event Report

May 21, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

On May 21, the Afghan Coalition successfully hosted its first Immigration Clinic in collaboration with the Council on American-Islamic Relations, California (CAIR), at our office.

The clinic provided valuable immigration information, guidance, and support services to community members in a welcoming and supportive environment. Participants had the opportunity to connect directly with representatives and receive assistance with immigration-related questions, consultations, and available community resources.

The event was highly successful, and we are grateful for the strong partnership and collaboration with CAIR. We also extend our sincere appreciation to all staff members whose dedication and support helped make this clinic meaningful and impactful for the families and individuals we serve.

On May 20, 2026, the Afghan Coalition, with the generous sponsorship of Kaiser Permanente, successfully hosted a Healthcare Fair from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Fremont Downtown Event Center Plaza. The event welcomed approximately 100 community members and families who benefited from valuable health information, wellness resources, and community support services.

Several agencies and organizations participated by hosting resource tables and sharing important information with attendees, including Bay Area Community Health, Family Resource Navigators, U.S. Bank, City of Fremont youth and family , and Zakat Foundation of America.WIC, and CAIR FOUNDATION

The healthcare fair was a great success. Community members expressed appreciation and satisfaction for the opportunity to access health education, wellness resources, and supportive services in a welcoming environment. The event helped increase awareness about health and well-being while strengthening community connections and reducing isolation among participants.
