🔥Fremont firefighters responded to a working vegetation fire in the area of Niles Blvd and Linda Drive, along the railroad tracks.

A quick fire attack stopped forward progress of the fire and prevented spread to nearby homes. The size of the fire is estimated at 1/4 of an acre.

During California’s fire season, even small vegetation fires can spread fast and threaten structures. Stay alert, and report smoke/fire immediately to help keep Fremont safe 🚒.

Today around 3:51 p.m., Fremont Fire quickly contained a spreading vegetation fire near Nancy St. and Alyce St. The fire burned about a half acre and threatened nearby homes before being controlled within 30 minutes. One storage shed was destroyed, but there were no injuries or displaced residents.

Fremont Police and Falck Ambulance assisted on scene.

Fremont Fire Department had the opportunity to be present for the delivery of a brass plaque commemorating the opening of the firehouse at 190 Anza Street. It was the original Fire Station 4 when the City of Fremont was incorporated in 1956. The station would eventually move to 1000 Pine Street in 1994. Engine 54 crew members were on hand to deliver the plaque.

The plaque has been donated to Mrs. Patty Lacy and Washington Township Museum. Mrs. Lacy is the goddaughter to the late Fire Chief Jack Pereira who was the last volunteer Fire Chief for Mission San Jose volunteers before the city incorporated. Chief Pereira was also the current Fire Chief when the Anza station opened its doors in 1954.

These members that the exhibit is being built for act as a great reminder to all of us of the work that was done to get this City and Fire Department to where it is today. The exhibit they are creating has original Mission San Jose Fire badges, as well as pictures from the same time frame, and now this plaque recognizing Chief Pereira and his legacy.

On April 28, 2026, Engine 57 responded to a medical emergency involving an adult female patient who was found to be in cardiac arrest and not breathing. During this incident, our crew performed with professionalism, urgency, and exceptional clinical skill. Crew members demonstrated expert deployment of advanced life-saving interventions, including airway management, defibrillation, and medication administration.

These calls are stressful, requiring coordinated teamwork and decisive patient care. Our crew rose to the occasion, successfully resuscitating the patient. The 48-year old patient was later released from the hospital, an outcome that directly reflects the importance and quality of the care provided on scene.

Engine 57 crew members were given a Letter of Commendation in recognition of their life-saving action, professional skill, and commitment to service. Job well done!

In partnership with Alameda County Office of Emergency Services and local cities throughout Alameda County, Fremont Office of Emergency Services will conduct a regional Alert and Warning Exercise on May 12, 2026.

Over the past several months, Alameda County and partner jurisdictions have worked together to update emergency notification procedures, improve message templates, integrate current technologies, and incorporate lessons learned and best practices from recent disasters throughout California and the nation.

This collaborative exercise will allow emergency personnel and authorized message senders to rehearse the use of emergency notification systems and strengthen coordination between local agencies before the upcoming summer and fire season. Residents may also receive additional preparedness messaging from their local city or agency as part of this coordinated effort.

Preparedness is a shared responsibility. As local governments continue to strengthen emergency readiness capabilities, residents are encouraged to take time to prepare themselves and their families for emergencies by:

- Making an emergency plan
- Building or updating an emergency supply kit
- Reviewing evacuation routes and emergency contacts
- Going to ACAlert.org to sign up for emergency notifications
