This month, our High-Risk Domestic Violence Unit has continued its work towards holding probationers accountable and keeping victims safe.

The unit recently set out to conduct residential searches and attempted to contact probationers with outstanding bench warrants. Though they were unable to locate those with warrants, we are proud to report that those who they did have contact with, were found to be in compliance with their terms and conditions of probation.

Today, the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce (California) unveiled their latest STAART billboard on Fremont Street near Highway 99 in Stockton.

Have you heard of the STAART App? It does more than just allow you to report crime. The Stockton Chamber has partnered with us to allow the community to report homelessness in their areas. The app is connected to our SJ CARES Homeless Outreach Team. When concerns are reported through the app, our team quickly responds to provide assistance and offer services to those in need.

Earlier this week, members of our department attended the Board of Supervisors meeting for the presentation of two proclamations recognizing October as both Domestic Violence and Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Throughout October, you will notice our staff wearing polos with pink badges and lettering, along with pink patches on their vests in Recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We do this to honor those who have lost their lives to breast cancer and to show support for the survivors and those currently fighting this disease. We also hope to raise awareness and promote early detection.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month is officially underway!

The Family Violence Unit wasted zero time getting to work.

Arrest #1: A probationer reported to our office as instructed by one of our Probation Assistants. While meeting with him, officers discovered he had an active warrant issued by the Stockton Police Department for domestic violence related charges.

He was taken into custody on his warrant and instructed to meet with probation upon release.

Arrest #2: A probationer reported to our office for his first domestic violence class; however, he showed up to class intoxicated and was removed from the class. Upon escorting him outside, officers located drug paraphernalia and a handmade weapon in his belongings.

He was taken into custody for a violation of probation.

We are just getting started….
