October means cooler weather, beautiful scenery, and the official start of the fall fire season. Per Kentucky Law, all burning within 150 feet of wooded areas is restricted from the hours of 6am to 6pm; this ban will remain in effect through December 15th.

Please keep in mind that this is not a ban.
However, a ban could be issued if conditions require one. We will keep you posted of course.

If you choose to burn during the unrestricted timeframe, we ask that you inform dispatch at (606) 768-9046.

Menifee Fire thanks you for your support and cooperation.

Menifee Fire received training from Air Methods Mount Sterling KY2 yesterday evening on the safe and correct procedures for LZs- or Landing Zones.

When an EMS patient's health is critical, it may be necessary to call in a medical flight. These helicopters are flying ICUs, and their pilots and crews are thoroughly trained in providing the most critical of care while en route to the hospital. When a helicopter is needed, the Fire Department is called to set up and secure an LZ for a safe area for the helicopter, its crew, the EMS crew, and most importantly, the patient.

It is important to remember that an LZ is an emergency scene, and only authorized personnel are allowed in.

We are grateful for the Air Methods Mount Sterling crew for their wonderful training session!

Yesterday evening, our firefighters received training on personal protective equipment, or PPE. Our in-house trainer, Lt. Kyle Howell, talked about the safety-critical aspects of PPE, and its proper use and intent during an emergency. The firefighters then practiced firsthand in the use of the PPE including the operation of self-contained breathing apparatus, or SCBA.

Menifee Fire prioritizes safety and training for all of its incredible firefighters in order to better serve our county and citizens.

We will never forget that fateful day 25 years ago. Thousands of innocent people would lose their lives; 343 FDNY firefighters would die in the line of duty.

Never forget.

Thank you Menifee County Schools for allowing the members of our EMS, fire, as well as neighboring firefighters, to train on site at Menifee Central. We were able to get a good walk-through of the building, start a pre-plan for any emergencies there, and were able to do pump operations drills in the parking lots...and got to flow some water and use the hydrants on site.

Partnerships with our community, including with our school district, are so important to the emergency services of our county.

Thank you again!

The Menifee County Fire Protection District would like to extend a very special “Thank you!” to Library Director Melissa Wells, as well as Emergency Management Director Richard Franklin, in their participation of their training tour and walk-through of the Menifee County Public Library, yesterday. Both individuals spent over an hour with members of the MCFPD, as they toured the building, received updated floor plans, and answered questions about the building’s emergency procedures.

Partnerships with community leaders are essential to the safety of all Menifee County citizens. The members of the MCFPD were able to start developing a plan for their response and operations, in the event that there was an emergency at the Public Library.

Over the next few months, you will see members of the MCFPD continue with training, tours, and pre-planning, for emergencies in the large commercial and government structures of our county. Once again, these tours are essential for the safety of all, including our emergency first responders, as we update our operations plans. Please do not be alarmed. There will be public notices going out 24 hours before we train at a location. Thank you for your cooperation and patience, as we train to improve our service to our county.
