September 30, 2026 at 5:16 AM Frenchtown firefighters along with MESI ambulance, Missoula County Sheriff’s Office, Montana Highway Patrol and LifeFlight responded for a vehicle rollover on Petty Creek Rd just north of Hideaway Ln.

A resident in the area had spotted the vehicle and called 911. The resident returned to the scene to search for victims.

Frenchtown Fire arrived on scene, checked the vehicle and searched the dense brush. No victims were located. It appeared the vehicle had been there for some time.

This call for service took resources away from a medical emergency called in just minutes earlier. Had the occupant of the vehicle called to report the accident, as required by law and common sense, those resources could have focused on the medical emergency.

Accidents happen. Please be responsible and immediately report the accident so that first responders are not wasting resources and taking away from other emergencies.

August 7, 2026 Frenchtown firefighters responded to several calls including two wildland fires. One fire was on Houle Creek Rd and one at the Pulp Mill. Both fires kept crews busy for several hours.

The Pulp Mill Fire was 1 to 2 feet underground and required the assistance of some amazing locals and their backhoe. We located several areas of combustion occurring in the roots of the vegetation and possibly stemmed from a recent roadside fire. We will continue to monitor this area.

The Houle Creek Fire was .25 acres and the cause is under investigation.

Both fires were reported by observant citizens - KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

Thank you to our partners at the Lolo National Forest, Montana DNRC, & Missoula Rural Fire District! We appreciate the help!

Please be extra vigilant during these hot, dry and windy days! Call 911 to report all fires.

Let’s all be safe out there!
