When health leaders from across California come together, local experience matters. 🤝

This week, CalViva Health’s own Courtney Shapiro joined county health directors and public health leaders from across California at the County Health Executives Association of California Annual Meeting in Fresno.

Drawing on her experience as a leader in the space, Courtney brought CalViva Health’s perspective to the discussion—including how working closely with county health directors and departments helps us understand what policy changes can mean for the people and communities we serve.

Those local partnerships are what keep statewide conversations connected to the realities communities are facing every day, and help us respond in ways that make sense close to home.

In partnership with community organizations across Kings County, this event is designed to make it easier for parents and caregivers to find resources that support their children’s health and well-being—all in one place.

For us, this is part of what community health looks like: listening first, building the right partnerships, and creating opportunities to meet families where they are.

The future of healthcare in our community is being built right here at home. CalViva Health is proud to join Fresno Pacific University for the grand opening of the new CalViva Simulation Lab, a space designed to give nursing students more opportunities to put learning into practice.

With updated simulation technology, including adult, birthing and infant simulators, the lab gives students a chance to practice real-world scenarios in a setting that reflects the hospitals, clinics and community practices where they may one day work.

For CalViva Health, supporting programs like this is an important part of caring for our community beyond the doctor’s office. It is an investment in the long-term health of residents in Fresno, Kings and Madera counties.

The students training in this lab today may be the nurses caring for our families, neighbors and CalViva Health members tomorrow—and that’s always worth supporting.
