We're proud to announce the Beacon of Hope and Hope Grows Here honorees at the 2026 Gala of Light!

Beacon of Hope Award: The Originals

50 years ago, it started with a group of parents. ✨

They were raising babies with Down syndrome, and they wanted more for their children and for families like theirs. Together with EPU's founder, they imagined a parent-led organization built on support, understanding, and hope.

That idea became EPU.

This year we're honoring the "Originals," some of the first children and families who helped start it all. Fifty years later, their light still guides us.

Today EPU serves children with developmental, physical, behavioral, and emotional needs, because the Originals taught us that every child deserves care that fits their own journey. 💛

Hope Grows Here Award honoree: Ability Central!

Ability Central works to expand accessibility and opportunity for people who are Deaf, disabled, and neurodivergent. Their grants, partnership, and investment have helped EPU grow its speech and communication programs, including group speech therapy, customized assistive technology, and family coaching.

The result is more young children finding ways to share their wants, their needs, and their big ideas. 💬

Thank you, Ability Central, for helping build a more accessible, inclusive future. Hope really does grow here. 💛
