FEMA and FCC Plan Nationwide Emergency Alert Test for Oct. 4; Test Messages Will be Sent to All TVs, Radios and Cell Phones 10/04/2023

Hey everyone, just wanted to make sure you had a heads up on this. Everyone's cell phone in the US will sound off today at around 1120 PST with a message from the government, but there's no need to panic. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is conducting a nationwide test that will be sent to all cell phones to ensure its systems can "effectively warn the public about emergencies, particularly those on the national level." We are happy to announce that we will be starting our next Hybrid EMT Course on August 30th, 2023, and will go until November 2nd, 2023. For more information, see the link below.

This is a hybrid course, which means the majority of the content covered will take place online and at your own pace.
A few key points/things:
• There will be weekly assignments that consist of reading, lecture videos, and written work.
• Labs will take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays:
Wednesday's 0800-1430 (Lecture)
Thursday's 0800-1700 (Skills Lab)

In order to be considered for a spot in the EMT program, all applicants must take an assessment test, which includes 7th-grade basic science, math, and writing. This score will be used to rank students for spots in the program. Testing is approximately 1-2 hours. Please click on the link above to sign up for a test date.
