While most of us are seeking shade in triple-digit heat or bundling up during winter storms, our crews are out maintaining over 150 basins and 775 miles of pipeline. From sediment removal and rodent control to park repairs and vegetation management, the District’s maintenance team keeps Fresno’s stormwater system clean, safe, and prepared—365 days a year. 💪🌦️
This summer shone a spotlight on the behind-the-scenes effort that protects our communities from flooding, erosion, and pollution.
It’s all part of a year-round commitment to public service and environmental stewardship.

2024 Groundwater Recharge Report is in!
And the numbers are something to celebrate. 🎉
This past water year (Oct 2023–Sept 2024), with the assistance of surface water deliveries, FMFCD recharged 51,432 acre-feet of water back into the groundwater aquifer through our network of ponding basins.
In a growing metro like Fresno-Clovis, where natural percolation is limited, stormwater basins do more than prevent flooding—they help secure our water future. 💧
This work supports our region’s goals under the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) and contributes to long-term water stability in the Kings Subbasin.

Rain’s coming—are your yard care habits stormwater-safe?
When pesticides and fertilizers are applied before rainy weather, they don’t stay put. They can wash off into storm drains, polluting local basins and our groundwater.
Here are some tips:
1️⃣ Don’t spray pesticides or fertilizers when rain is forecast
2️⃣ Try non-toxic alternatives (like those with an Our Water Our World label)
3️⃣ Contact a licensed pest control pro to explore eco-safe options

Oso de Oro Park and Trolley Creek Park are more than just neighborhood green spaces—they’re part of FMFCD’s mission to manage stormwater, recharge groundwater, and beautify our community.
Alongside the trees and playgrounds, these parks include infrastructure that helps keep our neighborhoods safe from flooding.
Whether you’re enjoying a peaceful visit, a family picnic, or just some fresh air—these parks are proof that smart stormwater management and beautiful public spaces can go hand in hand.
