Man am I blessed! Thank you to my mother Sonia, Auntie Janice with the refreshment station, Aunt Nisi, Mya, Ray, Araya & all the youth who volunteered on the SPOT to canvass♥️💙🤍
My heart is absolutely FULL🥰 They may not understand too much now, but when they grow up they’ll be able to say they’ve been civically engaged since they were young men and women💯

Thank you Girl Scouts Troop 2579 for asking me to speak on Civil Debate with your Cadettes as they work to earn their Finding Common Ground legacy badge 🫡
As a hopeful elected official, I told the girls there’s 3 very important things to remember when it comes to debate:
1) Know your facts! Always have numbers, stats, and stories to back up your argument.
2) Stay calm/be professional. Debates can get heated but it is important you stay calm and respectful and keep the focus on the argument, not the individual.
3) Listen to your opponent. You will have prepared answers but when you listen to your opponent, you can quickly pivot to counteract their argument if it’s something you did not prepare for.
And the last gem I left them with was diversity in thoughts and opinions is GOOD FOR ALL! We want all voices at the table and it’s important to stay open minded because you never know what you can learn from someone else 😉
(Pssst! I’m the adult in the middle. These girls are tall!)

Most would say these are the highlights of the campaign. But my highlights are the moments I couldn’t genuinely capture in photos.
“In 15 years of me having my shop here, no one has come themselves to ask me what I need until you. They always send somebody for them.”
“I truly believe you are what we need. You are the future.”
“Ya estábamos muy emocionados por su interesante en la comunidad…”
“On a scale from apathetic to compassionate, she seemed to be most compassionate…”
“I heard you speaking, you were SPOT ON.”
“Out of all the candidates I’ve interviewed you’ve given the most in depth answers.”
I’m grateful for every conversation. Every opportunity. Every chance I have had to learn and become more connected to my community than I had been. Now it’s time for the voters to do their thing while I PUSH to the finish.

As government leaders it is CRITICAL to support our local organizers. It would be nice to get to a point where community doesn’t have to come to chambers organized out of frustration, but they can organize to COLLABORATE on polices, programs and initiatives that SERVE OUR COMMUNITIES to the best of our abilities. MUCH RESPECT TO OUR LOCAL ORGANIZERS💯
