Honoring Nancy Waidtlow’s Legacy
Sunday, April 19, 1 p.m.–5 p.m.
Wolk Garden, 6661 N. Forkner St.,
"She joined the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) early in her stay in Fresno, and in 1974 she represented WILPF Fresno, along with June Loring, at the World Peace Congress in Moscow. Remember, this was at the height of the Cold War, and people who went to Russia were regarded with suspicion." She was an advocate for the unhoused (founding Dakota EcoGarden) and a Raging Granny. May she rest in Power!

As some of you may know, one of the founders of Wings and of the Dakota EcoGarden, Bev Fitzpatrick, passed away in December. Bev was a fierce social justice advocate, a voice for the voiceless and a dear friend and inspiration to many. She gave so much of her time and passion to helping the most vulnerable in our community, including working for Peace Fresno, Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom, as well as serving on the boards of the Eco Village Project/Dakota EcoGarden and Wings.
To honor Bev’s memory and legacy, we are creating a scholarship for students at Fresno City College in her name. This scholarship will be awarded each year to one or more students who demonstrate a commitment to the social justice causes that were so dear to Bev’s heart. In order to endow this scholarship, we need to raise $10,000. We are reaching out to people who knew Bev and share her commitment to equity and dignity for all to ask for donations. By contributing to this fund, you can help deserving students achieve their goals.
Donations may be made electronically to the ecovillagefresno.org Pay Pal account, a verified non-profit 501(c)(3). https://ecovillagefresno.org/donations/ Personal checks can be mailed to Eco Village Project of Fresno, P.O. Box 5124, Fresno, CA 93755. Please write “Bev Fitzgerald Scholarship Fund” in the memo line. Checks can be dropped off at the DEG Open House May 3 12-3
