Yesterday evening, CVAHT had the opportunity to host a resource table at North Fork Rancheria Tribal TANF for the 4th Annual Every Child Matters Vigil. Every Child Matters is a movement recognizing the historical and harmful impact boarding schools had on indigenous children and their future generations; through loss of lives, language, and culture. “To say every child matters is to commit ourselves to justice, truth, and protection for generations to come”

Yesterday May 5, marks Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons (MMIP) Awareness Day. A day to honor and remember Indigenous individuals who are missing, murdered, and impacted by violence. Native people continue to face disproportionately high rates of violence, with cases remaining underreported or unsolved. CVAHT will continue to learn, seek advisement from our native neighbors and advocate for data that reflects the true impact this has on native communities.

📣Employee Spotlight 📣
Outreach Coordinator Evelyn Gonzalez has worked with Fresno EOC for 21 years. She is also the original staff hired when CVAHT opened in 2009. She says that "her job is like a box of chocolates🍫...you never know what you're gonna get." Some fun facts: her first job was laying down paper so grapes 🍇could be turned into raisins; and she loves musica, except heavy metal, but it also depends on her mood.
