Over the past few weeks, we have seen a record amount of dark money pour into the District 3 Council race to replace me as I reach my term limit.
The question I hear repeatedly from constituents is: Why is there so much outside interest in this race?
The answer is simple. Industrial developers, SEDA, and Data Center interests want to return to the days when southern neighborhoods bore the burden of unchecked industrial growth—when existing residents subsidized new sprawl development and when corporate interests strain our water and power resources.
These outside groups, working through local political consultants and corporate campaign committees, are investing heavily because they see an opportunity to advance their agenda.
Voters should pay close attention to who is funding each campaign. If a candidate is financed by industrial interests, don't be surprised when they support an industrial agenda.
