Connection. Movement. Screen-free time. That’s what island kids get in our after-school mentoring groups, and it matters more than you might think.

National research shows that young people with a mentor are:
🎒 52% less likely to skip a day of school
🚫 46% less likely to start using drugs
🎓 55% more likely to enroll in college
🤝 130% more likely to hold leadership roles

Yet 1 in 3 young people will grow up without a mentor.

Here on San Juan Island, we’ve made sure our kids have one. But in 2027, government funding for these programs is ending. To keep them going, we need our community to come together and help ensure every island child continues to have the support and opportunities they deserve.

Please consider making a donation today. Your gift will help keep these vital programs available for the children and families who count on them.

Do you love the holidays and have a little time to help make the season brighter for local families? 🎄

JLSFRC is looking for 2–3 organized volunteers to help coordinate our annual Holiday Giving Program, which supports approximately 25 local families and individuals in need.

What you’d do:
⭐Reach out to generous islanders who might sponsor a family or individual
⭐Keep track of gifts as they arrive
⭐Make sure every gift finds its way to the right recipient

This is a wonderful way to be part of a community effort that brings real joy, relief, and care to neighbors during the holiday season.
