Friendswood EMS Earns American Heart Association Mission: Lifeline® EMS Gold Recognition 10th consecutive year

City of Friendswood EMS has been awarded the 2026 American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline® EMS Gold Level Recognition Award recognizing the department’s commitment to providing high-quality emergency cardiac and stroke care to the Friendswood community for the 10th consecutive year.

The Mission: Lifeline EMS recognition program honors emergency medical service agencies that demonstrate excellence in the treatment of patients experiencing ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI), a severe type of heart attack caused by a complete blockage of blood flow to the heart.

Each year, more than 250,000 people experience a STEMI. Early recognition, treatment, and rapid transport are critical to improving patient outcomes. Friendswood EMS paramedics use advanced training, evidence-based treatment protocols and 12-lead ECG technology to quickly identify patients experiencing a STEMI, begin lifesaving treatment and notify the receiving hospital before the patient arrives.

To earn the Gold Level designation, EMS agencies must exceed 75 percent compliance in key performance measures for an entire year and demonstrate consistent, high-quality care for at least eight STEMI patients during a two-year period.

“This recognition is a reflection of the dedication and professionalism of our Friendswood EMS team,” said Friendswood EMS Chief Lisa Camp. “Our paramedics understand that when someone is experiencing a heart attack or stroke, every minute matters. From early recognition and treatment in the field to communication with our hospital partners, our goal is to give every patient the best possible chance for a positive outcome.”

The award highlights Friendswood EMS’s continued commitment to clinical excellence, advanced prehospital care and improving outcomes for patients experiencing time-critical cardiac and stroke emergencies.

🚑 Train. Practice. Prepare.

On Thursday, September 10, 2026, Friendswood EMS paramedics joined Medical Director, Dr. Abel Longoria, for hands on training focused on advanced airway management and intraosseous (IO) access.

High quality patient care starts with high quality training. These critical skills require practice, repetition, and teamwork so that when seconds matter, our paramedics are ready.

Always training. Always improving. Always ready to serve. 💙

🩹🩸 Learning Skills That Save Lives!

Friendswood EMS had the opportunity to work with Boy Scout Troop 442, providing CPR, First Aid, and Stop the Bleed training to 17 Scouts.

These are skills that can make a difference in an emergency and we’re proud to see these young people learning how to step up and help when it matters most.

A special thank you to Paramedic Duncanson for sharing his knowledge and taking the time to teach our Scouts! 🚑👏

Our team members aren’t only a part of our crew, they are members of our community. We enjoyed watching Paramedic Karl Klug shake, rattle, and roll on the drums at Friendswood Parks & Recreation Senior Citizen Sock Hop today.

Today, we had the opportunity to train our fellow first responders at the Friendswood Police Department in Stop the Bleed and CPR skills that can make a difference when responding to a life threatening emergency.

We're incredibly grateful to our community partners, Mahjong for a Cause and Bound Tree Medical, for their generous donations that helped provide the essential supplies included in these kits. Your support strengthens our ability to prepare those who serve and protect our community every day. Thank you for investing in the safety of our community!
