Frisco PD Explorers

Frisco Explorer Post 173 wants to extend a massive congratulations to our incredible senior explorer Sophie Powell. Sophie received the esteemed FBI scholarship and attended a meeting at the Dallas FBI office. This fall, she’ll be joining Ole Miss. Sophie’s hard work and commitment have truly paid off, and we couldn’t be prouder.

Explorer Post 173 had an incredible showing at the 2026 David Paris Memorial Explorer Competition! 🚔💪
Our post brought two teams who had the opportunity to put their training to the test in a wide range of scenarios, including intoxicated driver, family disturbance, robbery, burglary, crime scene, active shooter, suicidal subject, hostage negotiation, and more.
All of their hard work paid off! Team one earned 2nd place in the Felony Traffic Stop scenario and 3rd place in the Officer Down scenario. Team two brought home a 1st place medal in the Domestic Disturbance scenario!
In addition to team events, our explorers competed individually in a fitness obstacle course. Congratulations to Logan Hammond for earning 3rd place, Ella Dupre for tying for 1st place in the girls division, and Vishwak Gunnamreddy for taking 1st place in the boys division! 🏅
We are incredibly proud of our explorers and the dedication, discipline, and teamwork they continue to demonstrate.

At last night’s explorer meeting, our focus was all about preparing for this Saturday’s competition. Explorers rotated through multiple scenarios, sharpening their skills in family violence, APOWW, robbery, public intoxication, building searches, and traffic stops.
Each scenario gave our explorers the opportunity to apply their training, build confidence, and work as a team under pressure. The explorers are excited and motivated for their competition Saturday!

Explorer Post 173 is gearing up for our next competition in only 18 days away!
During this Monday’s meeting, the Explorers focused on sharpening their traffic stop procedures, reviewing officer safety, vehicle approach, and communication to make sure everyone is competition ready.
To wrap up the night, the Explorers pushed through physical training to continue building the strength and endurance needed for the upcoming competition.
The countdown is on and the team is working hard every week to be ready. Let’s go Post 173!

First meeting of the month means checking standards and improving training.
Post 173 began the evening with uniform and equipment inspections, ensuring every Explorer met appearance and readiness expectations.
The instructional block focused on APOWW (Apprehension by a Police Officer Without a Warrant). Explorers reviewed the legal authority behind warrantless apprehensions, communication strategies when interacting with individuals experiencing a mental health crisis, and the proper procedures for placing someone into protective custody. Emphasis was placed on safety, professionalism, and clear articulation.
To close out the night, Explorers completed their monthly physical fitness assessment: push-ups, sit-ups, and a 2000-meter timed row.
Strong work by everyone as we continue building knowledge, discipline, and leadership within Post 173.

This award isn’t just a title,it’s a testament to the countless hours, unwavering dedication, and leadership Daniel brings to our post every single meeting. Everyone please congratulate LT. Mann!

🚓💪 Back at it!
Last night’s Monday meeting marked our first one back after three weeks, and the Frisco Police Explorers were ready and excited to get back to work.
The explorers completed their monthly uniform inspections and physical fitness assessments, then reviewed how to properly conduct a traffic stop with a strong focus on officer safety.
Great effort all around—we’re excited to be back and looking forward to a strong month ahead!

Explorer Post 173 – First Meeting of the 2026!
This Monday we welcomed and introduced five new explorers to the post and also took time to say goodbye to Lt. Thomas, thanking him for his four years of dedication and service to our explorers.
During the meeting, we reviewed expectations and guidelines for our new members. They were shown how to properly set up and wear their gear, how monthly inspections are conducted, and were given a hands-on demonstration of proper handcuffing techniques. To close out the night, Explorer Post 173 completed their monkey fitness testing, continuing to build discipline and readiness as we start the year.

During todays Monday meeting, Frisco Explorer Post 173 conducted interviews for prospective new members. Candidates were asked a series of questions by current post members and advisors, giving them insight into the expectations and values of the post.
Our explorers also had the opportunity to share how the post has provided them with valuable knowledge in law enforcement and hands-on experiences that help prepare them for the future. We appreciate every candidate who applied and took the time to interview to be considered for membership in Post 173.

🎄🎅 Holiday Cheer with Explorer Post 173 🎅🎄
Our explorers had the opportunity to assist at the FPD 2025 Breakfast with Santa, where they helped kids with arts and crafts and spread holiday cheer to everyone who attended. We are so proud of our explorers for representing Post 173 and for being given the chance to interact with the Frisco community in such a positive way.
And of course, they even had a moment to tell Santa what they wanted for Christmas! 🎁✨
