🚨 SEVERE FLOODING – PLEASE USE CAUTION 🚨

The Fritch Police Department is advising motorists of severe flooding in several areas around the city.

🌊 Eagle Blvd. and N. Canadian Dr. are experiencing significant flooding. Please avoid this area if at all possible.

🏫 For those traveling toward the school: As of 2:00 AM, Bost Ave. is clear and is currently the best route to use.

Please also use caution in our usual flood-prone locations, including the 200 block of East Broadway and the intersection of Cornell Ave. and West Broadway, where flooding is also occurring.

⚠️ TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN! Never underestimate the depth or strength of moving water. If your vehicle has low ground clearance, do not attempt to drive through flooded areas.

If you do enter standing water and determine it is safe enough to continue, keep moving steadily and avoid stopping in the water, as stopping can increase the risk of your vehicle stalling.

Please slow down, use caution, and allow yourself extra time this morning. No destination is worth risking your safety or the safety of first responders.

SH 136 project update
Contractor selected to complete remaining work on the project
Sept. 21, 2026

FRITCH – Construction on the SH 136 Americans with Disabilities (ADA) project in Fritch is scheduled to resume on Monday, Sept. 28 with a new contractor, FoutsCo Paving Company, LLC, taking over project operations. The project is expected to be completed in early 2027.

TxDOT appreciates the patience and understanding shown by area residents, businesses and the traveling public during this transition. With a new contractor in place, crews will resume work to complete planned accessibility improvements and related project features along SH 136.

During construction, motorists and pedestrians should remain alert for changing traffic conditions, work zones, and construction equipment. Drivers are strongly urged to follow all posted traffic control devices for their safety and the safety of the workers in the area.

Please drive with caution and reduce speed through all work zones. All projects are subject to change due to weather, emergency work and other unexpected events. For the most up-to-date road conditions, visit www.drivetexas.org.

Today at approximately 12:00 PM (noon), Hutchinson County will conduct its routine, scheduled test of the countywide outdoor warning siren system. No action is required—this is only a test.
Please remember: outdoor warning sirens are intended to alert people who are outside and away from shelter or other warning systems. They are not designed to be heard indoors in every home or business.
For reliable indoor alerts, please use additional resources such as weather alert radios and/or the Everbridge Mass Notification system (free to subscribe at www.borgertx.gov/alerts).
Thank you for your attention as we continue working to keep our community safe and prepared.
