The phrase “Constitutional Republic” is often a testament to redundancy. Republics are already defined by public law, civic institutions, and constitutional order.
What makes the United States historically distinctive is not merely that it is a republic but that it is secular:
no king,
no national church,
no divine right to rule.
Authority flows instead from the Constitution, the Rule of Law, and the People themselves.
That idea changed the modern world.
