WEATHER UPDATE: HURRICANE THREAT INCREASING
Residents across Washington County and southwest Alabama should closely monitor the developing tropical system in the Gulf. The system is forecast to strengthen and could become a hurricane Thursday before approaching the northern Gulf Coast Friday.
Potential impacts include heavy rainfall, strong winds, flash flooding and possible tornadoes. The exact track and intensity could still change.
🌀 PREPARE NOW:
✅ Have at least 3 days of water and nonperishable food
✅ Fill necessary prescriptions and medications
✅ Charge phones, power banks and other devices
✅ Check flashlights, batteries and weather radios
✅ Secure patio furniture, trash cans and loose outdoor items
✅ Fuel vehicles and safely prepare generators and fuel
✅ Have supplies and a plan for pets
✅ Keep important documents and insurance information protected
✅ Know where you will go if you live in a mobile home or flood-prone area
✅ Never use a generator indoors or drive through flooded roadways
Don’t wait until conditions deteriorate. Prepare now and continue monitoring official weather and emergency management updates.
