We are pleased to announce that the Fulshear City Council has voted unanimously to appoint David A. Gott as the Interim Chief of Police for the Fulshear Police Department.

Chief Gott brings an impressive 44 years of law enforcement experience, including more than four decades in leadership, supervisory, and command positions. His career represents a lifetime of dedication to public safety, professional excellence, accountability, and service to others.

His extensive background and leadership experience will be valuable assets as Fulshear continues to grow and our public safety needs continue to evolve.

Chief Gott began his law enforcement career with the Houston Police Department in 1980, advancing through the ranks from patrol officer to Captain. During his distinguished tenure with HPD, he commanded several of the department’s most demanding and specialized divisions, including:

Homicide Division: Oversaw investigations involving murders, aggravated assaults, kidnappings, and other serious violent crimes.

Tactical Operations Division: Commanded specialized units including SWAT, Hostage Negotiations, Bomb Squad, K-9, Dive Team, and Marine Unit.

Internal Affairs Division: Directed investigations and accountability efforts involving allegations of employee misconduct.

Clear Lake Patrol Division: Managed police operations across a 47-square-mile area of southeast Houston.

Recruiting Division: Oversaw the recruitment, evaluation, and hiring of future Houston police officers.

Following his service with HPD, Chief Gott served as Chief of Police for Hedwig Village from 2013 to 2024, providing more than a decade of executive leadership. Most recently, he served as Interim Chief of Police for the Brenham Police Department in 2025.

Chief Gott’s contributions to Texas law enforcement extend beyond the agencies he has served.

He previously served as President of the Houston Area Police Chiefs Association and as a committee member and assessor for the Texas Police Chiefs Association’s Best Practices Accreditation Program.

His professional credentials include a Bachelor of Science degree, a Master Peace Officer Certificate from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement, and the designation of Master Hostage Negotiator.

As one of the fastest-growing communities in Texas, Fulshear continues to experience tremendous opportunities and challenges associated with growth.

With that growth comes an increased responsibility to ensure our police department remains prepared, properly supported, and committed to the highest standards of professionalism and public service.

Chief Gott brings extensive experience in organizational leadership, officer development, accountability, strategic planning, and community policing.

We recognize that effective law enforcement requires more than responding to calls and enforcing laws. It requires building relationships, earning the public’s trust, supporting the dedicated men and women who serve, and ensuring that every resident is treated with dignity, fairness, and respect.

These principles remain essential to the future of public safety in Fulshear.

We look forward to working with Chief Gott, our police officers, city leadership, and community members to strengthen our department, support our personnel, and continue providing the level of public safety our residents deserve.

Our community takes great pride in its values, its relationships, and the men and women who dedicate their lives to public service.

We believe strong leadership begins with listening, building trust, supporting employees, and working collaboratively toward a common goal.

As we begin this next chapter, we look forward to the experience, perspective, and leadership Chief Gott will bring to the Fulshear Police Department.

We invite our residents, business owners, and community partners to join us in extending a warm Texas welcome to Interim Chief of Police David A. Gott.

Together, we will continue working to make Fulshear a safe, welcoming, and exceptional place to live, work, and raise a family.

10/12/2026

It was a busy weekend for your Fulshear Police Officers, with two vehicle pursuits, a foot chase, multiple apprehensions, and a little unexpected cardio thrown into the mix.

They say there’s never a dull moment in law enforcement, and this weekend certainly helped prove that point.

What began as a routine traffic stop in the 6000 block of Cross Creek Bend Lane quickly turned into a vehicle pursuit, a foot chase, and an unexpected fitness test.

Officers stopped a vehicle occupied by three individuals. During their investigation, officers developed probable cause to search the vehicle.

When the driver was instructed to exit, he apparently decided he had other plans.

Instead of cooperating, he hit the gas.

The pursuit eventually ended in a cul-de-sac on Sweet Creek Lane.

Now, most people would recognize that a cul-de-sac isn’t exactly the best escape route. Apparently, the three occupants came to that same realization, because all three abandoned the vehicle and took off running.

And that’s when things got interesting.

One of our officers had recently graduated from the police academy, where running and physical fitness were practically part of the daily routine.

When one suspect took off, our rookie officer put that academy training to good use, chasing him down and taking him into custody.

Meanwhile, his senior partner, an experienced Field Training Officer, wasn’t about to let the rookie have all the fun.

He pursued and apprehended another suspect.

Apparently, youth and experience make a pretty effective relay team.

Unfortunately, the third suspect escaped despite an extensive search of the surrounding area.

However, there’s one small detail he might find disappointing.

He’s been identified.

The incident resulted in charges involving evading arrest or detention, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful carrying of a weapon, and citations for drug paraphernalia.

In another incident over the weekend, Officers were requested to assist the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office with a reported major accident at the intersection of FM 1463 and Cinco Trace Drive.

When officers arrived, they encountered a driver who was sleeping behind the wheel.

Apparently, someone had decided that the driver’s seat was a perfectly acceptable place to catch a few extra minutes of shut-eye.

Officers made contact with the driver, but instead of following their commands, the driver decided it was time to wake up and hit the road.

And just like that, our officers found themselves in another vehicle pursuit.

The pursuit continued until it ended in the 27500 block of Wilson Lane, where officers successfully detained the driver.

The individual was held until Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived and assumed responsibility for the investigation.

One minute you’re sleeping behind the wheel, and the next you’re the subject of a police pursuit. That’s quite a wake-up call.

Running from law enforcement, whether on foot or behind the wheel, is never a good decision.

It creates unnecessary danger for officers, the public, and everyone involved.

And as these incidents demonstrate, our officers are prepared for just about anything, whether it’s a vehicle pursuit, a foot chase, or an unexpected encounter with someone who apparently needed a little more sleep.

These incidents highlight the importance of training, teamwork, experience, and being prepared for the unexpected.

From a rookie officer putting his academy fitness training to good use, to a seasoned Field Training Officer demonstrating that experience still has plenty of horsepower, to officers assisting our partners at the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office, our officers continue to demonstrate their commitment to protecting our community.

While most of us were enjoying our weekend, these officers were out doing what they do best, responding to calls, making quick decisions, and keeping our community safe.

Because in Fulshear, protecting our community isn’t just a responsibility. It’s a commitment.

And one final observation.

If you’re thinking about running from the Fulshear Police Department, you might want to reconsider. Our officers apparently don’t mind a little extra cardio, even on the weekends.

National Night Out 2026: Another Incredible Success in Fulshear!

What an amazing evening for our Fulshear community! National Night Out 2026 was a tremendous success, and it was all made possible by the incredible people, businesses, and organizations who came together to celebrate what makes Fulshear such a special place to call home.

First and foremost, THANK YOU to all of our neighborhood hosts! Opening your homes, organizing block parties, bringing neighbors together, and welcoming our first responders into your neighborhoods is what National Night Out is all about. Your hospitality, enthusiasm, and community spirit made the evening truly memorable.

To our wonderful vendors, local businesses, and community partners, THANK YOU! Your generosity, participation, and continued support help make events like this possible. We are fortunate to have businesses and organizations that understand the importance of investing in the community they serve.

A special thank you to our Fulshear Police Department, fellow first responders, volunteers, and everyone who worked behind the scenes to make this year’s event such a success. Your dedication to building relationships and strengthening community partnerships does not go unnoticed.

National Night Out is about much more than food, fun, and festivities. It’s about neighbors getting to know neighbors, children getting to know the officers who protect them, and building the relationships and trust that make our community safer and stronger.

The greatest crime prevention tool we have isn’t something we wear on our duty belt. It’s the relationships we build with the people we serve.

As Fulshear continues to grow, maintaining that small-town sense of community becomes more important than ever. Events like National Night Out remind us that while our city may be growing in population, our commitment to looking out for one another remains as strong as ever.

To every family who attended, every neighborhood that hosted, every vendor who participated, and every individual who supported this wonderful event, THANK YOU for making National Night Out 2026 one to remember!

Great communities don’t happen by accident. They’re built by great people, and Fulshear is blessed with some of the very best!

We look forward to seeing everyone again next year!
