The Itawamba County Sheriff’s Office would like to recognize K9 Hov for his outstanding work and, most importantly, express our sincere gratitude to the members of our community whose generous donations made our K9 program possible.

Last night, a vehicle pursuit ended in Lee County, where the driver and passenger fled on foot. The passenger was apprehended, but the driver continued to flee through a creek area.

K9 Hov was called in to assist in locating the fleeing suspect. Using his tracking abilities, Hov followed the suspect’s trail and located him hiding near the creek bank. Upon seeing K9 Hov, the suspect surrendered and was taken into custody.

This incident is a powerful example of the value a trained K9 brings to law enforcement. K9 Hov’s tracking skills helped our deputies locate the suspect and bring the situation to a safe conclusion without the need for an extended search.

Our community made an investment in this program, and we want you to see the difference that investment makes. Your generosity helped provide our deputies with a valuable resource that enhances our ability to serve and protect the public.

We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of our community. Your donations make a real difference, and we are committed to putting those resources to work every day for the people we are honored to serve.

We would also like to thank the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, and Tupelo Police Department for their assistance during this incident.

Thank you for supporting our K9 program and helping us continue our mission of keeping our communities safe!

UPDATE FROM SHERIFF MITCH NABORS:

I want to thank the community for your cooperation as we continue to investigate the disappearance of Lesley Anderson and her three children, Rachel, Cameron, and Kyle. As your Sheriff, nothing is more important to me than ensuring the safety of the citizens of Itawamba County, especially the most vulnerable, our children. When I took office, this case was particularly important to me, and I made a commitment to see it through. These past couple of weeks we have taken significant steps forward in our investigation. We have utilized every resource available to us and leveraged our partnerships with the FBI, Mississippi State, and our District Attorney’s Office. As the investigation is still ongoing, please continue to reach out with any information regarding this case at 800-225-5324.

Message from Sheriff Mitch Nabors:

09/21/2026

From Sheriff Mitch Nabors:

The Anderson Family disappeared from Itawamba County in April of 2000, and our office remains committed to finding answers. Today, you may notice an increased law enforcement presence, as this remains an active case and we work together to understand what happened to the Anderson family.

At the time of their disappearance, Lesley Anderson was 45 years old, Rachel Anderson was 13 years old, Cameron Anderson was 12 years old, and Kyle Anderson was 9 years old. When they disappeared, Lesley and her children were living with a family friend in Fulton.

We ask our community to please keep this family in your thoughts and, just as importantly, to remember that even the smallest detail could matter. Something you saw, heard, or remembered years ago may be the piece of information investigators need today.

If you believe you have any information for the Sheriff’s Office please call 800-225-5324. No detail is too small to share.

We have not forgotten the Anderson family. We will continue to look for answers, and we are grateful to everyone who continues to help us keep their names and their story from being forgotten.
