🚒Training Tuesday🚒

The crew from Engine 1 (B) spent time with our newest firefighters during their orientation period teaching them about all things fire hose. Firefighters Garner and Maness worked on pulling and packing hose, followed by some nozzle work. Both firefighters have received their shift assignments and have completed their first day on the truck!

We have continued traveling around our district, spreading fire safety vibes and bringing the heat (not literally, that's what we're trying to prevent 😂)! Kids and teachers are loving the truck tours and equipment demos. Stay tuned as we still have several other events scheduled this month!

Huge thanks to Kathy Santoli and the First Federal Bank NC team for hosting us at their Customer Appreciation Day today! It was a wonderful event, and our staff enjoyed the delicious hot dogs!

It's Fire Prevention Month and our crews have been busy spreading the word about fire safety! All month long, staff will be visiting with children to promote fire safety and showcase some of our trucks (because who doesn't love the big 🚒red truck)!

We are thankful for all the invitations we have received to visit and interact with the kiddos! Safety is everyone's superpower! 💪

Our Employee Spotlight for October is Firefighter Ryan Woodyard! Ryan joined us in September 2025 after serving three years in the Army, bringing a strong sense of discipline and dedication to Engine 4 on B-shift.

Since joining the department, Ryan has been a dependable and hardworking team member who is always eager to learn. He proactively seeks out additional classes and training opportunities to continuously improve his skills as a firefighter. He volunteers to assist with our new Explorer program and various department events, and he truly enjoys interacting with the citizens in our community. We appreciate his willingness to help wherever needed as he develops his skills in the fire service. His hard work and 'can-do' attitude make him a valuable asset to our team, and we can’t wait to see all he accomplishes in the future.

Thank you for your service, Ryan! Our department and the citizens in our community are lucky to have you.
