This week for National Safety Month, we're bringing attention to arguably the most common safety concern of them all — our roads.
Motor vehicle crashes are one of the leading causes of death in the United States, and the three biggest factors are ones we can all control:
• Speeding — Speed is a factor in roughly one out of three traffic fatalities nationwide. The faster you're going, the less time you have to react and the harder the impact. It's not worth it.
• Distracted Driving — Texting and driving is illegal in Alabama. At 55 mph, reading a text takes your eyes off the road for the length of a football field. No message is worth a life.
• Seatbelts — Alabama law requires all front seat occupants to wear a seatbelt. Seatbelts reduce the risk of death in a crash by 45%. Buckle up — every single time.
These simple details could be the difference between what saves your life and the lives of others.

On this day in 1944, thousands of American soldiers stormed the beaches of Normandy knowing full well what they were walking into. Many of them never came home.
What happened on June 6th, 1944 was not just a military operation — it was a defining moment for this country and for the free world. The courage shown that day shaped the future of America for generations to come, and we owe a debt to those men that can never be fully repaid.
The Etowah County Sheriff's Office will always honor our veterans — those who gave everything, and those who came home carrying it with them.
We will never forget. 🇺🇸

We caught wind that it was National Donut Day — and you know we couldn't pass up on an opportunity to celebrate. 🤷🍩
Even K9 Tedi, K9 Sonya, and the Rainbow City Police Department joined in on the fun. 👀
Thank you to Cothran's Bakery, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts of Gadsden, and Dunkin' of Rainbow City for letting us enjoy one of our favorite days of the year!
