Dear God, thank You for (name specific things about your day). Some things I need help with are (something you can’t do). It makes me feel so good to know Jesus wants to help me and He can do things I can’t. I love You, God. In Jesus’ name, amen.
When you go into your child’s room this month, say, “Good morning! Jesus made the sun come up because Jesus can do anything!”

Arrange paper plates face down on the floor. Draw a star on the face of one plate. Tell your child to find the star. Each time they find the star, rearrange the plates and play again. Talk about how the wise men followed a special star to Jesus.

Go outside. Tell your child to listen to a place you call out: tree, mailbox, etc. They have to run to that place and yell, “God gave us Jesus!” Talk about how the shepherds ran to see baby Jesus and then ran to tell everyone God gave us Jesus!

Tell your child to look for star decorations while you drive. Many store fronts and city organizations like to decorate for the holidays. Play a game where every time you see a star, everyone has to say, “God gave us Jesus!”

Despite all that may be working against us, we have the opportunity to set the tone in a season that was intended to remind us of how involved our God is—at all times.

Make some cookies together. As you bake, talk about your child’s friends. Next, either invite some of those friends over to play and eat the cookies, or deliver the cookies to them. It’s a great way to show friends how thankful we are for them!
