9/11 Memorial CANCELLED due to heat lightning :(
The rain will end but lightning prevents. A 'safety first decision was made. Please accept our huge, heartfelt apologies.

Please honor those who deserve to be honored in your personal thoughts & prayers. We will resume this program, next year.

God Bless America 🇺🇲

9/11 MEMORIAL OBSERVANCE is today 5:30pm, rain or shine. Bring an umbrella.

Our keynote speaker, Col Davenport, states that rain should stop between 5/5:30. He says his radar is accurate. :) Fire Chief Vance checked wind thresholds & states we are good to go...'let's rock & roll.'
The program begins 5:30pm, unless a short rain delay is required. We hope to see you there. 🇺🇲
The program honors first responders, those affected by the events of 9/11/2001 and the United States of America. Music and prayer and inspiring words, with lots of unity and love.

In God we trust...

Did you know that the City of Gadsden has neighborhood parks scattered all around the city? And, there's even an app to help you find them? https://coggis.cityofgadsden.com/portal/apps/instant/nearby/index.html?appid=99bddeac264b4c6caf13a2f2a8772f
As a Gadsden native + member of Gadsden Beautification Board since 2007, I didn't know either. Our board members were all surprised, too. So, this year...we're helping to fix that.
Mayor Craig Ford and City of Gadsden have created the app and begun process of fortifying these neighborhood gems. Gadsden Beautification Board has spearheaded a project we're calling 'Friends of Gadsden City Parks'. We began at Ninth Street Park North in East Gadsden, planted maple trees for future shade in honor of Earth Day with plans to repair or replace park benches. Anyone interested in helping, message us here.
Or, just go find a neighborhood park and have some fun! 🌳

HAPPY EARTH DAY! Gadsden Beautification Board with the Gadsden Chapter of AKA Sorority and Youth Leadership Initiative planted four trees in honor of Earth Day/Arbor Day in East Gadsden's Ninth Street Park North. It's our 3rd year to partner together with these wonderful groups, and the beginning of a new GBB effort to help resurrect city parks. We look forward to many more Arbor Day events, together.
