Gahanna Democrats and Friends has received quite a few questions about the 10 charter amendments that will be on Gahanna ballots this November.
If you didn't know that there would be 10 amendments on your ballot - you would be forgiven. There hasn't been a robust civic engagement process to help inform voters, outside of a handful of Facebook posts and videos, which hopefully is something that the next Charter Review Commission and the City Of Gahanna, Ohio - Government consider in the future.
While our Board of Directors decided not to endorse Issues #18-27, we are grateful for the comprehensive presentation we recently received from Gahanna City Attorney Priya Tamilarasan on these largely technical fixes to our city charter and how they will allow for more streamlined operations, budgetary savings, and protections for city employees. We encourage all residents to check out the city's website, which has ballot language, Charter Review Commission recommendations, and City Council resolutions on each proposed amendment.
The Charter Review Commission convenes every five years to review the City of Gahanna Municipal Charter and recommend amendments, if any, to City Council. Any proposed changes to the Charter must ultimately be approved by Gahanna voters.
