Here is a fun little this-or-that to help me settle a debate! Anyone can answer, even if you’ve never taken a class or don’t plan on taking a class. I’m genuinely curious. If you were to take an EMT class and it was an IN-PERSON course, would you rather your classwork/homework be on paper, or online? Bonus, non-existent points if you tell me why. Lol.

We had a great training meeting last night alongside a few Borden County Volunteer Fire Department. AirLife Texas 39 out of Snyder came over and put on an LZ class for us and our crews got some hands on learning with football equipment and how to handle an injured player. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to land the helicopter, but THATS OKAY because we are extremely thankful for the rain we received last night!

Our new ambulance is fully equipped and officially in service as of today! Our older ambulance will be taking a break to receive some much needed TLC and will eventually be put back into service as a backup unit.

EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT! 🎉

Thanks to the unprecedented support of our county administration, BCEMS was able to obtain a major upgrade today. Our brand new Horton ambulance was delivered.

The new unit has a diesel engine, is 4-wheel drive and has many other unique features that will enable the department to better serve the county. We have begun the phase of installing essential equipment. Once response ready, it be put into service as Medic 1, our front-line ambulance. The old ambulance will move to a backup status and will remain response ready as Medic 2 in any instance a second unit is needed.

We also would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to Michael Jordan at SERVS for stellar customer service throughout this entire transaction.

Dear Borden County School Community:
During the week of May 18th-22nd the Borden County School will have a safety drill that will involve a total lockdown of the school, a simulation of an active shooter threat, and a school evacuation. We emphasize that no guns or live am******on will be used is this safety exercise. The Texas Education Agency requires our school to have drills of this nature throughout the school year in order to maximize and promote the safety of our students. Please be assured that we will do our utmost to minimize students from being upset while still preparing for an active threat. Do not hesitate to call the school superintendent’s office or the school principal’s office if you have questions.
